Lucasfilm Marketing Team Not Familiar With Star Wars

Apparently, there have been new covers designed for Blu-Rays of the Star Wars feature films.  But the people tasked with designing the product have no understanding of the content that they’re working on.  Par for the course.

AttackOfTheClones

I’m just waiting for the rainbow saber.

ScreenRant reports:

New Blu-ray and DVD covers for the Star Wars films mess up the color of Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber. The popular fantasy series started by George Lucas in 1977 is ongoing, with the final film in the Skywalker Saga slated to hit theaters this December. Before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters however, many people will likely rewatch all of the movies in the Star Wars franchise.

First reported by SuperHeroHype, the box art for the new set of Star Wars Blu-rays and DVDs has been released, but on the cover for Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Anakin has a red lightsaber instead of a blue one. As fans may remember, Anakin never wielded a red lightsaber until he decapitated Count Dooku at the beginning of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. As for the actual movies themselves, there aren’t reported to be anything extra on either format, with the only real difference being that the Blu-rays will include a digital copy of the movie.

We can only imagine what the transfers will look like.

  1. These will certainly be repackagings of the existing Blu-Rays as promotion for PLAN IX FROM HYPERSPACE. However, there are rumors of a nine-film 4K boxset packed with extras for next year, and possibly even the original, unaltered OT films. Of course, if the only option is a boxset with the Disney movies, I’ll stuck with Despecialized or 4K77, thank you VEEERRRYYYY much.

  2. Complaining about the colour of a light sabre? Pffff… No-one will ever notice that. /s

Speaking of repackaging: In light of the shitty trick MCU pulled with Endgame making a stupid 2nd release just to hit the high mark, I really really really hope that James Cameron, just to spite Disney back, does like a limited re-release of Avatar in 3d theatres and Imax etc to warm people up for Avatar 2. Could possibly get another $1-200m out of it.
