The Nihil Are Villains For Wanting To Be Left Alone

Mr. H Reviews recently took a look at the trailers for the High Republic, and the one for the Nihil in particular:

The 3rd trailer Mr. H reviews describes the Nihil as anarchists of the Outer Rim. They are masked marauders. The trailer then goes on to say, “As the Republic encroaches on their territory, the Nihil use their sadistic tactics to stake their claim in the frontier.”

Well what if the Republic didn’t encroach on their territory? What if the Republic just left the Nihil alone? Well as activists they’re not really capable of doing that. And apparently the Jedi are colonialists too.

Mr. H notices a description in the 2nd trailer he reviewed which said, “This is an era of adventure and exploration for the Jedi, as they work to protect the Republic, and illuminate the darkest corners of the Galaxy with the light of the Force.” This essentially describes the Jedi as imposing colonialism.

But that’s okay, because the Nihil (nihilists, get it?) have been designated as the villain, and have even been given a Nazi-esque symbol in case the reader had any doubts.

This is all so ridiculous. This would be like saying, that the Nazis attempted to spread the light of the 3rd Reich into France and Poland, but the French and Polish used their sadistic tactics to stake their claim in their homelands. Then attempting to paint the French and Polish as the villains by slapping a swastika on them. It really just demonstrates the complete and total lack of understanding with regards to geo-politics that all SJWs are stricken with, and the High Republic writers are certainly no different.

  1. I have zero interest in this trash. I’ve looked into it and l just don’t care for it one bit. It doesn’t even seem like Star Wars, just some boring, generic fantasy crap.

It would appear that not a lot of effort has gone into this. The whole thing looks and feels “low rent” to me. The only value l see here, are the laughs l get from seeing people accepting this, as actual “Star Wars”

I find it incredulous that they dumped decades of Expanded Universe novels, comics and games, for this atrocious garbage. Just goes to show you how much Lucas cared about all his products. Disney couldn’t give a flying fuck.

  2. Dang talk about a lack of subtly. Do these people seriously think that the Nazis were anarchists. They were authoritarians. That’s why the Empire took inspiration from them and it didn’t seem so forced.

  3. Should have gone this way properly having their great disaster be the reveal the Republic IS the bad guy here and this is about the Republic recognislzing their mistake!

  4. So, Itchy, there is a Han Solo clone in THR, and his Chewbacca-analogue is a sentient pile of rocks named “Geode.” I could have sworn that character was in Thor: Ragnarok.

  5. yeah, the spiral symbol with the dot in the middle. The eye spiral symbolism, goes back to the Neolithic like the triskelion and swastika among other sun symbols from that era commonly used by Neolithic Caucasoids. Looks like they adopted a wiccan symbol for Star Wars with his “eye spiral” or tornado pattern to be used for the barbarians. They seemed to want to turn King Arthur into a woman with this Avatar Christ(Avar Kriss) and she’s blond too which reeks of Nordicism.

The Avars are a predominately Muslim, northeast Caucasian people from what is presently known as Dagestan…🤔

  6. Frankly this should be all about revealing the origin of the Separatists and how it took two centuries before they could gain acceptance for their views!

  7. The name Nihil already exists from Legends but it was a area of space known as the Nihil retreat where the Sorcerer’s of Rhand resided. That’s where Cronal was thought to be from. There was also Darth Nihil too.

That story was more interesting than just a bunch of space pirates. Theres nothing that seems very original coming from Disney SW.

You mean those parts of their homelands that were inhabited (then and historically) by ethnic Germans?

Interesting attempt to try and sidestep the point being raised.
Completely failed but it was noted nonetheless.

I’ll be honest I expected someone to compare the High Republic to the development of the British Empire after all it was also an age of colonialism that quite a lot of people have been using ti support arguments that are at least a century or more out of date, but please continue.

You know that France/Poland ≠ the world, right?

“Interesting attempt to try and sidestep the point being raised.

Don’t be so reflexively defensive. You look silly declaring something to be a failed attempt at distraction while simultaneously taking the ostensible “bait.”

But that is, in any event, a gross mischaracterization. I’m not here to defend Disney or NuWars. I’m just tired of seeing the zombified corpse of WWII-era anti-German propaganda getting dragged out of the closet to be propped up on display for the gazillionth time. I mean, George Orwell and Alduous Huxley both condemned the Nuremberg proceedings as a hypocritical kangaroo court for a reason, after all.

“I’ll be honest I expected someone to compare the High Republic to the development of the British Empire after all it was also an age of colonialism that quite a lot of people have been using ti support arguments that are at least a century or more out of date, but please continue.”

The real-life history of European colonialism is far too complicated a subject to cast in simplistic, good-and-evil cartoon terms (how many people, for example, are aware that it began in response to *Muslim* colonialism and invasion, perhaps most specifically the Islamic chokehold on overland spice-trade routes?)

As for “The High Republic,” Itchy’s observation regarding the hypocritical nature of the SJW self-image/mentality is quite spot-on. It’s just that the German metaphor is a bit misplaced (the situation in real life being, again, very much more complicated).

    • Exactly, maybe the LFL writers actually read some history and knew the Nazis weren’t so bad? Nah, not likely, they only know the cartoon version of history.

Itchy, seriously, read that link and others in that series, as you have been propagandized regarding WWII just as much as the SJWs. Follow the many historical footnotes and references listed there if you don’t believe that article, but don’t just fall for old propaganda yourself.

  9. This entire casting of the Nihil as the “villains” of the HR is a clustersuck.
On one hand, Lucasfilm is trying to appear nuanced by showing the colonizing impulses of a expanding republic and the resulting blowback but at the same time suggest that those resisting it are somehow the villains of the piece.

Make up your damn minds Lucasfilm. This is not sophisticated. This is Star Wars. And how is it the Golden Age of a republic when they are practically already an empire? This is what happens when you set your entire story a mere few hundred years before the prequels.

And Im sorry but Chancellor Soh, designed by the great Iain McCaig, looks like an Amidala design reject. Not Fabuloso! whatsoever.

Again, can you fools do anything that isn’t a complete mess?

    • The more I read the more I think they needed a prequel series to introduce this era.
Show Avar as a child growing up being found or brought to the local jedi order because her family didn’t have enough money to feed their family you know regular events from history to show the Jedi didn’t head out to kidnap force sensitive kids and it would make sense for them to be contacted when such kids started acting out so they can receive the help they need…

    • Like Padme and the Republic the actual mistake was trusting KK to keep her word than selling the franchise to Disney.
Had it been anybody else even Dave Filoni who I don’t have the same sort of obsession with as other fans I doubt he’d mess this up as badly as KK.
Its a shame Iger couldn’t let GL have a look over their initial idea, I know they turned down GL’s own idea for the trilogy, but they really needed someone familiar with Star Wars and not kowtowing to KK thus avoiding the resulting mess!

    • And yet it took the High Republic expanding into their territory to make them muster their forces to do something about it?
A more likely premise is that the Nihil are simply one force of many who came together to fight against the encroaching High Republic.
Had the High Republic been truly benevolent instead of expanding their borders they could have dealt with each part of their opposing forces instead of multiple groups of who the Nihil are just one force.
