Lucasfilm Fired The Star Of The Mandalorian?

One of the primary reasons to bother with this show may be gone.

That’s the claim from i09 which recently published the following:

Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune on The Mandalorian, will no longer be on the show.

In a statement obtained by io9, a Lucasfilm spokesperson said the following: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Germain Lussier of i09 makes no mention as to who the Lucasfilm spokesperson is.

Below is an example of a social media post which the i09 article refers to.

Oh wait, no, that’s an abhorrent social media post from Pedro Pascal, who is apparently still employed as far as we know.

The collective, collaborative, cooperative, community imposes their “Consequence Culture.”

UPDATE:

Deadline has confirmed this with her agency:

The former MMA fighter turned actress is no longer with her agency UTA, a spokesperson confirmed to Deadline tonight.

  1. Will then we just have to fight harder to save culture.
However I question if the io9 source is legit because Disney would most likely go to the Hollywood Reporter for this info first.

      • There’s other ways of looking at it too… I’ve never watched mando, but Favreau probably isn’t an employee of Lucasfilm either… I’m getting really tired of false framing and slippery wording. “I don’t work for LFL currently and no plans to in the future,” doesn’t cover how i have also NEVER worked for LFL.

But so long as Gee doesn’t bend a knee, she’s still my girl. She’s done nothing wrong. I just hope she has f-you money to ride this out if it is actually true.

Jon…. If this is not bullshit, you better set it right.

  2. I question if this is true, and will await further confirmation.

That being said, it honestly wouldn’t surprise me if Di$ney did fire her, LFL can’t seem to help themselves when it comes to shooting themselves in the foot. Anything to avoid the wrath of Twatter weirdos doped up on Critical Theory and wokeness.

      • Woke up this morning and looks as though it’s confirmed that she’s been sacked from the show.

I’m really glad that I never got invested in the show-it had some interesting concepts, and Gina’s character was certainly one of the standouts from what was otherwise a mediocre show, but as I’ve been saying from the beginning ‘The Mandalorian’ will not save Star Wars, Lucas’ so called heir and cuck in a cowboy hat Dave Filoni will not save Star Wars, and that Di$ney would find a way to sabotage the ONE thing keeping that was keeping the IP alive, and only just barely I might add.

I wonder if this incident might just make some of the fans that are still desperately clinging to the false hope that this show and its runners would save the franchise, wake up, take off the fraking memberberry goggles and realize that so long as Di$ney and KK retain control of Star Wars that the IP will NEVER be what it once was.

        Somehow though I doubt it.

  3. I love how Disney gets a pass on how they minimized Finn on the posters AND the three movies overall. Nobody seems to talk about that in these days of inclusivity and equity. I follow Gina and I failed to see anything wrong other than someone thinking for herself and the balls to say it.

    • If Finn had been a woman, the outcry would’ve been louder and still ongoing, believe me.

“Are we all going to forget how Disney sidelined the only female black woman to ever be a protagonist on a Star Wars movie in favor of pushing another white man to the front (Driver) in the sequel?”

    • Coincidentally, I got a phonecall this afternoon from my cell provider asking if they could be my internet and/or tv provider.

I cut the wire for tv over a decade ago. I’m actually kind of sad because IF i were a tv subscriber and/or a Disney+ subscriber I would cancel both immediately, citing this as the reason. But I don’t, so I can’t hurt them any more than I already have. (sigh)

  4. So I read the Variety article. Is that really all it was? The Nazis got people to hate their neighbors and people wearing multiple face masks in CA posts? I saw one guy say he was in her corner until today so I was expecting something worse. Weak stuff if that is what people are saying she crossed the line on.

Gina, you’ve done a good thing.

Thank you. We know what is going on…even more so now.

        • It’s amazing how Krystina Arielle can make all the racist comments she wants with no consequences, but then Gina Carano makes a few mild and/or hyperbolic comments and gets the boot.

To say nothing of the actual fascistic techniques that these people are using whilst ostensibly calling out “Nazis” on Twitter. Silencing their political enemies and stilling/exiling all dissenting voices is the beginning.

Disney is a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world. Lucasfilm is corrupt, visionless, and defends bigots and lunatics.

Star Wars is dead. DO NOT support it in any way. Before you eat that next nostalgia cookie they toss at you, STOP and THINK.

  5. Eh, she’s not a good actress and the show was mediocre at best. I pirated and finished the first season, haven’t bothered getting the second. Politically, she seems independent, which I appreciate, but acting is not her bag. Honestly, people here should be happy that independent people like her are cut loose from the irredeemable shitstain that LFL is now.

This would be like crying that Harrison Ford got fired from TROS: do we or him really want him associated with that bomb? Same here.

  7. I just got through giving my 11 year old daughter a lift last week – who was getting bullied and suffered terribly for it – thanks to Gina Carano, who sent her a lovely message. Then this happens.

Fuck Lucasfilm. Fuck Disney. Fuck Star Wars.

amazing. but not surprising. keep preparing your daughter well. now she has a real role model and perspective.

Mark Hamill can go do hell, but Luke would be proud of your daughter, Gina and you.

  8. If Gina had made a post about the Chinese cultural revolution, in which the EXACT SAME THING happened (people hating, demonizing, and turning their own neighbors in for not toeing the party line), nobody would bat an eye. If she made a post about Stalin’s Russia doing the exact same thing, outrage would have been from the niche, fringe corners of the internet. It took a comparison to their own worst enemy to react with outrage and call for the witch to burn.

It doesn’t matter to her, but this week all but cements Gina’s standing throughout the industry, more specifically, (acting) Community, to Primary

    𝗦 𝘁 𝘂 𝗻 𝘁 [𝗖𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴] Performance

à la co-staring any Real Housewives, NBA player, Kardashian or ‘ENTERTAINER’ (non-actress)

While some might embrace the designation (or survive on it), Carano’s acting resume, albeit laden typecast [𝘏𝘈𝘠𝘞𝘐𝘙𝘌 (2011), 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗽𝗼𝗼𝗹 (2016)], was at least building on bigger roles, screen time, or better projects, could’ve been more known for Hollywood output, rather than MMA.

Actors/Actresses are fickle bunch [insert: Gina Carano’s best SURPRISED!], and they’ll never hesitate whenever relaying their industry genesis; from who they studied under, to worst audition, to landing their dream [most popular] role (what they didn’t do to get it) — thereby vaulting them out of obscurity.
But those LUCKY enough to somehow bypass such mandatory monotonies [starting-out], will quickly learn a bit of acclaim & surplus in popularity, are (eventually) granted access, brethren, among their genuine thespian counterparts.

𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐆𝐢𝐧𝐚 [Carano’s management, lawyer(s), publicist, agent] ought to be apprized for somehow chameleon’ing their client’s resistance to Hollywood success or pantomiming widespread popularity for THIS L O N G (10 yrs).

𝘁𝗹;𝗱𝗿: Hollywood’s churned out plenty of wrestlers/entertainers turned terrible (worse?) actors.
Those rare successes, Johnson/Cena [also red hats] are very conscious of the native alienation that could just as easily doom their post-WWE/MMA livelihoods.

    Politicking one’s popularity is a Scarlet Letter that (eventually) moratoriums most 𝓐𝓒𝓣𝓞𝓡𝓢’ rampant prosperity [i.e. until, ‘…𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇𝓎𝑜𝓃𝑒 𝓁𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓈 𝒶 𝒸𝑜𝓂𝑒𝒷𝒶𝒸𝓀!’];
But their Faux-Actor counterparts or ♥ Entertainers ♥, are fast-tracked shunned to bit-parts, walk-ons, & surviving off residuals.

Any fantasies Gina Carano may have had starring alongside Tom Hanks in an SNL 2024 Presidential Dream Ticket bit just got one step closer to reality .. She is absolutely thinking this right now! Meanwhile:

  11. The Instagram post that they used as an excuse to fire her read as follows:

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors… even by children… Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

The post also featured a photo from the 1941 Lviv pogroms, during which Jewish men and women were massacred by their own neighbors.

They’re trying to claim that the post is anti-Semitic, which is ridiculous. It was clearly anti-Nazi and said nothing bad about Jews. (I’m descended from German Jews on my father’s side, by the way, and I’m not insulted by the comment at all.)

Furthermore, the point that she makes is fully valid. It’s not even an exaggeration or hyperbole. Politicians and the media are indeed trying right now to rile up people to dehumanize and hate their neighbors for being conservative. The way that they are trying to brand all Trump supporters as domestic terrorists because of the Capitol incident on January 6 is almost an exact copy of the way the Nazis used the burning of the Reichstag to demonize their political opponents. History is repeating itself in the most sinister way. Fortunately, we’re still in the early stages, and hopefully it will be stopped and reversed this time. But nonetheless, the Nazi playbook is being copied right here and now, just like Gina Carano said.

One thing that shocked and irritated me is that in his video covering Gina Carano’s firing, Doomcock said that he strongly disagrees with the decision to fire her and is heartbroken over it, but that the comment was indeed offensive. He repeatedly condemned the comment and said that it’s insulting to Jews.

  12. Grown ups are talking, go back to bed.

Disney simply thinks Nazi comparisons and hyperbole are only OK when the left does them and goes after conservatives that do not bend the knee. They even circle wagons and recently backed that racist cunt narrating the Low Republic. They protect members of their Marxist collective.

So we have the media misrepresenting the quote Gina served up. If anyone who is drinking the koolaid took the time to chew on the quote served up by gina, they would see what it really means. So they need to be told that “she said something bad” and “the holocaust was bad” so they don’t have to actually live with 2 contradictory ideas and then possibly have to resolve the internal dissonance.

They think we are the nazis and they are the heroes. Evilcorp can’t have that bucket of cold water (military boot) splashed on their assets and snapping out of their spells.

    • If some of these asshats had even the slightest bit of honest thinking (i’m talking about the cancel culture), they would see headlines like

“Disney fires Carano because of holocaust comment on social media”

      and

“Carano hired by famous orthodox jew Ben Shapiro following disney firing”

and realize that it doesn’t add up. But we know they are too retarded to evaluate this.

I did a search with bing on Disney Q1 on bing, and looked at the news. 80% of the headlines leads the reader to assume she hates jews. Some were a little more honest and only one said “Might be time for a boycott”

“911 –> Axis of Evil –> Iraq” – George W. Bush over and over and over…

I’m glad Gina bounced, but there are still more shoes to drop in this story. Would be cool if Abigail Disney chimed in on this.

      • Well the next few months will continue to see continued loss at the theme parks. The other thing that still hasn’t happened is a leveling off or decline in subs for Disney+. That could still happen but it wont be reflected in current financial statements. Combined with the situation of movie theaters for the foreseeable future, the only real impact people can have is to close their wallets to Disney entirely.

And that they will do all that is in their power to stop you from doing anything that may remove them from their position. It is not coincidental that white heterosexual people organizing is the biggest threat to these people second only to real christianity (not the hippie lgbtq version of today), which is why they are the most reviled and attacked today.

  16. No disrespect to Gina but her character(which I kinda still liked) was there only to “kick male butt” as a “strong female character” from nearly beating up The Mando himself to defeating a Zabrak pitfighter during her debut to wiping out Stormtroopers left and right. So it was very much part of the woke propaganda machine even if the actress herself is a conservative.

    • Indeed. And this doesn’t roll the other way around, to say the least.
Which, alas, is a good example of how and why American “conservatives” wound up where they are. And may wind up in less hospitable environment still.

Predicted result: since “Mandalorian”, shockingly, didn’t suck anywhere as much as the rest of Soy Wars (didn’t watch myself, but many people who are not shills agree on this), Disney mob will find and “fix” whatever wasn’t broken.
Observed result: they are “fixing” it.
